Is it too early to hope that spring is around the corner? We've been having some absolutely beautiful days here, interspersed with days of the usual mizzle. I have spotted Simon darting in and out of the shed with a mower whenever the sun decides to show itself! Don't get me wrong, come rain or shine, we are just thankful to have this outdoorsy comfortable lifestyle and lungs full of fresh country air.
It's a quiet and peaceful time of year here. I'm currently spending my days spring cleaning the house, baking bread, looking after our son Jasper and walking our dogs. Well I say walking, it's more of a waddle now as the due date for our second son draws ever closer. Also I say baking bread, but I must admit the bread maker does most of the leg work...
Due to the aforementioned rain, DIY works have been few and far between. I know Simon has been itching to get his mitts on the ride-on mower and start to tackle the grass up on the exercise meadow. We have however, managed to pay a couple of local fellas to stand in the rain on our behalf and put in a shiny new fence and gate by reception as the old one was looking a little tired to say the least. Big thanks to the guys at Hill Farm Landscapes, here in Thorrington. Check them out, they do great work!
We were also very excited to receive our fantastic new signs; for me at least, it was one of the biggest things that really brought home to me what we've chosen to do. The people at e-signs were really helpful and efficient.
Advertising continues to prove its worth and we're meeting lots of new lovely people and pets. I sense that the kennels and cattery may be groaning under the weight of lots of happy dogs and cats this Easter and summer. We are getting to work on some flyers to help spread the word even further, so I'll get a chance to put my artistic skills to good use again soon.
